Kowa, famous for their high quality, high performance spotting scopes, have now applied their skills to binoculars and introduced a range of roof prism binoculars with high specifications.
The Kowa BD42 series were hugely popular when introduced a few years ago, now Kowa have added Prominar XD Lenses as used on their top of the range binoculars and scopes to the front element of these binoculars. Kowa have lightened the binoculars by constructing them from magnesium alloy, brightened and sharpened the image by using top of the line C3 and Phase coatings, they are fully waterproof, filled with dry nitrogen gas and have a close focusing distance of just 1.5m (about 5 feet) So far everyone who has looked through these binoculars (and indeed the 8x42 version) seems to like them. We find these excellent binoculars and have no hesitation in fully recommending them. The Kowa BD-XD42 series feature long eye relief eyepieces with twist-up / twist-down eyecups which allow both users with or without spectacles easy comfortable viewing, the binoculars are nitrogen filled and fully waterproof.
